week 6: Feb Fun

Mind, Body, Soul, Self

Update on running totals

Week: 61.8km (PB) (+ 23.3k --> more than a half marathon)
Year to date: 225.7km (203.5km)  (+22.2k)

Thoughts on this week:

Really pushed myself hard with 5 days of 10km+ runs, add a light run mid-week, and also took a much needed REST day on Thursday. While running allows me to challenge myself, I'm constantly trying to improve my times for the 10k route around my place, or the 7.4k run from work. I find that my times decrease on great run days, and that they increase on "putty" days. I'm not one to compare myself to others, as I find that too taxing and it turns into a vicious cycle. Instead I equate my runs on my moods, time and factors during the run. Not only allowing myself to be pushed for a faster time (but also trying to gauge my progress)

The week started with mild weather and ended in a blistered cold and windy front, making times slower than my progress shows. I find that I'm actually getting much more toned (unintentionally) and that my cardiovascular system isn't as taxed as my years training for only 3 months for the upcoming marathon.

Running outdoors has allowed my to take myself to a new level. I never thought I'd be able to enjoy winter running, but with motivation from running buddies and running mags. Doesn't hurt that I'm able to get outside and soak up that Vitamin D from the suns rays. Just starting my summer tan 6 months early.

Recommends: Lang and O'leary Exchange, and CBC the National streaming online @ cbc.ca/video

Mini espresso adventure today: Green Grind (college and manning), and Rooster (Riverdale Park).
Rooster: strong brew, but weak on personality of the beans.... disappointed.
Green Grind: no espresso b/c of water piping issues. Earl Grey (via loose leaf). thumbs up!

Until next week!
