need to get at it.

This week = LAZ-BOT!

I think I ran maybe.. 4k this week, total.

But in my defence, I saw Jason Collett, Sarah Slean, had an Indian date with geeths/shobes, 5th Annual, and stayed out late and addeed calories to my diet.

I will work hard next week during XMAS!!! and top it off by dancing it all away @ circa.

love and peace

coldness is upon us!

GAH! first signs of PURE winter....
snow, ice, frozen sidewalks, strong winds...
EWW.

on a brighter note : [S: 4k, B: 61k, R: 19k]

2 days of non-biking due to me being a whimp and not wanting to ride when it was frozen/melting ice... that's just too scary for me

Tuesday, November 20, 2007

this just furthers... my anger

I hate cars that do NOT look in their blind spots, that want to turn on everything, that don't look at the bike lane.... that decide to cut you off cause you're on 2 wheels.

GAHHHHHHHHH!~

joys of November

Week 6: [S: 5.0k, B: 97k, R: 28.7k]

Another solid week! Still a lack of weights....

Sunday: A little mis-hap with the subway... caused lack of weights and a very excited run w/ best run partner. 53 min/8.2k . Felt: amazing!

Monday: lack of swim, caused by preparedness.....
ended up late to a spinning class... but it was still good.
enjoyed a good nap during the afternoon and took the TTC = no control in speed of transportation.

Tues: skipped run :( had a long bike ride instead.

Wed: another awesome run with Menard. 5k with Menard, 6k total 38min.
no swim b/c of video uploadage GRRRRRRRRRRR.

Thurs: Afternoon run; 45min/ 7k + 100 sit-ups
Fri: OFF

Sat: 7.6k, 45min/ weights for shoulder, chest, bi/tri/arms...

A lot more motivation than the previous week, but still lacking in real push!

oh it feels good

Stats for this week.

[S: 4.7k, B: 110k, R: 23.6k]

If you were on my MSN contact list you'd probably see these numbers on a regular basis. It's not that I'm trying to gloat (maybe it is..) but it's another way to constantly remind myself of the progress I've made during the week. Whether I've trained hard or not is all subjective but actual mileage really makes a difference in the proceeding weeks.

Here is a breakdown of my exciting week.

sunday: brisk 4.8/5.6k run up to Spadina/St.clair and back in the AM.
Monday: skipped run in the AM
did a 2k swim
followed by a long break and an Intense, intense/fun spin class.

Review: Spin classes are amazing, you can adjust the tension and speed to your liking it 's just non-stop biking for an entire hour. It's great!

Tues: 8k run topped in 46 min (slower than normal?) with a 1k cool-down.

wed: 4k run w/ Menard (25 min/ med-slow tempo)
skipped a swim in favour of seeing my rents.

Thurs: BAD morning, followed with a 5k run... good times good times.

Fri: OFF
SAT: 5k, bad/lazy/tired.

Overall, not impressed with the lack of weight-training. Cardio and endurance is getting up there... so we'll see how the W-T will fit into my schedule. Will slowly introduce more swimming as we more forwards into the winter months.

End of one, beginning fresh (NOV)

This week was much more laxed in terms of insane outings.

Last Saturday had an amazing time meeting up with Geeths, Shobes and V-attack for some Indian in Little India!! GReat food, great company , only thing missing with Liz and Mikeness.

This week stared with a fizzle... and ended off strong.
Stats: [S:8k, B: 82k, R: 28k]
Sunday: just plain tired, and there was drama at work.

Monday: did a 4k ~ 22min... tres tres lazy- really didn't have time as I was covering/switching with Stonk.

Tues: ultimate day!
7k run around the track =35 laps in about 42 minutes plus 3 laps of walkage
110 sit-ups (sets of 15 varying positions... thehehe)

AFternoon did a 3.5k SWIM.. very proud of myself, as it was LONG COURSE. Lasted just over an hour.

WED: 8k run in the AM for 42 min HR=200/min RIGHT after the run. FELT amazing, as I got my second wind by lap 20.
100+ ABs.
3x15 squats (free standing)

Thurs, Fri: OFF

SAT: amazing on the treadmill.
Completed 4.5miles = 7.4k in about 45 minutes using the HILL selection
followed by some full-body weight sessions, and 100 Situps.

GReat week overall. Especially with this new committment to a run in MARCH.

There we were waiting for each other to stop at around 5k, but we continued and pushed through completing a nice 7+/8k run. It was amazing, pace was fanatasitc finsihed it in 48 min.

tues: Recharged from the long outdoor run, resulted in RAINed in Tuesday morning run. BUt I completed 35 laps.. 36 laps .. about 4.5 miles OR 7.2k
good times good times.

Fall is actually coming

Week 2 consisted of PARTYing hard and lack of training. No discipline at all. I'm very disappointed in myself (as I speak in self-motivating terms.)

Mon: !!!
Tues: Wintersleep
Wed: Dinner w/ Vash at the One
thurs: JUSTICE - will do a brief of that
Fri, Sat: CRASHED! low energy, just plan sucked- plus sickness from lack of sleep.
Sun: recouppped - Dinner date.

Now that week 3 is under way I feel a lot better about the time constraints and the general notion that I'm in this state of training becuase I feel motivated enough to do it.

Monday started off with bang!

Sun brings out the worst drivers

So I'm getting a bit lazy with my training.... REALLY lazy...

so I procrastinated, and hopefully handed in my last paper for my undergrad HBSc. degreee... w00t. 2 more exams, 1 more week = finished.

Anyway, today I biked to drop off my paper, and since it was SUCH a nice day (it's 8:25pm and it's 20 degrees... CRAZY...) i decided to back around campus for another 10 minutes. Intially I had plans to go to MEC, but decided I would WASTE tons of time there..... after my several loops around queen's park, and around college to bathurst...

long story short... I got a farmers tan while studying on Sid smith patio for 3 hours...

fun times in the AM bike-age

As some of you readers (or lack of) know I ride a Road bike ------>
(similar to it, except probably 10 years older)
Lately my back tire has been giving me problems..... So I think there is a slow leak..... I'll need to get on that.

Although I had to get used to this bike, I fully heart road bikes. I will need to purchase a hard core 1000 bike in the near future when my dreams of doing triathlons is in full swing. Let me tell those who don't ride such a bike, that when it gets windy......... you need to REALLY bike against the wind.

Rain= problems, b/c thos tires are extra skinny.... seriously the TTC streetcar tracks ALWAYS scare me, b/c I think I'm goign to slip and fall (like last summer, when I fell twice in 1 week, NOT FUN on my days off).

As the title says, I bike in the early AM and trek a good 6.6k from my house to the AC.... Lately I've been getting faster (which I love) but it also means getting stronger legs. The point of this post was as the days are getting longer, it's also getting brighter in the day, which mean that it doesn't feel so COLD and dark. All things that I love.

I suggest the early morning rides, they really wake you up!

here's to exam season!!!!!

life has challenges.... that's fun times.

Last Monday, I went to go see the Movie Sharkwater. Not only did it open my eyes to the black market of shark finning on the pacific coast of Latin America, and South America, but it also made me mad at humans. WHY are WE the top of the food chain, and how come we decide whether or not we should just wipe out other speices.......are we the most powerful beings?! we're such human snobs.

Rob Stewart, the man who made the documentary, gave beautiful cinematography and it made me want to give up my time to volunteer aboard the vessel: Sea Shepherd.
Not only was the scenes depressing, it made me realize that I don't want to see the extinction of such a bio-diverse animal. Even though there are many myths surrounding Sharks, they really do no harm to Humans considering that they only kill about 6 a year, compared to road side deaths, or even starvation........ This brings me to the point of how we can help these animals.

1) Giving your time to volunteer for such a great organization, and spread the message that conservation of even "deadly" animals is necessary to keep the environment in tact.

2) Donating $$ will help to fuel these operations

3) Giving your government grief over long line fishing........... (I don't want to ruin the movie, but a WORLD-WIDE BAN, should be mandatory! They only take the animals that they need and waste the rest of the fishes, turtles and other beautiful creatures of the sea)

PLEASE help! visit: savingsharks.com

ON to other news: 6 weeks left till OTTAWA RACe WEEKEND: May 26-27 (my bro's birthday, Jarvis 200th, and the best time of my life)

- Planning a trip out to HI, to visit my TWIN. hopefully that will be solidifed by April's end.
- City or not?! here I come..... graduation, exams, stress, ear problems....
(no training, only water jogging..........hahahhhahahah good times.)

I bet no one actually reads this blog, but I still heart it, b/c of the shoes.

(finally watched Russel Peters , Outsourced............ not as funny as I thought it'd be, and he's retiring the CHILD SERVICES joke........... "Someone's goign to get a hurtin' "

APRIL =EXAMS, and concerts

Training had been upped and it's like 6 weeks or so until OTTAWA RACE WEEKEND (MAY 25-27/07), should be interesting 21k.

I did WATCH SHARKWATER!!!! it's a documentary about the lack of shark conservation, demystifying myths, and the black market of SHARK FIN's.
Tuesday: BIKE, BIKE, BIKE ~ 30k.
SAW MATT WERTZ!!!!!! SOOO SOOO GOOD

Wednesday: did 2.5 k or so in the pool, followed by 25 minutes of Water running. BOY, it's hard! I tried sooooo hard to NOT use my arms.

Back in action

It's been a very long time since I've blogged... for various reasons.
1) Reading week - Went to Barbados for Marine Biology Course... it' was ALL WORK, and very little play. (photos on fbook , I'll do another blog for the trip soon)
2) Sick before and after trip leads to no training, and stressed out about mid-terms that occured before and after
3) Just finished the week of hell with school, where I had 1 Formal Lab Report, 1 Final Essay (40%), and 2 Class Reports for Marine biology.... in total I probably produced about 80pages of printed stuff....

now that that's over, it's MARCH and that means MARCH MADNESS, I haven't been able to watch ANY games, but my brackets are on nasty fbook... and I'm doing decent... I think I call for UCLA to win it all. LOVE the BRUINS.

But my team in the NCAA is UCONN, followed my MICHIGAN STATE and DUKE then cinderella story teams.

Anyway, the point of this blog is to log my training this week.
Monday - 45 min swim ~ 2.25k+
Tues - 35 min run ~ 3.5 miles , followed by Abs & weight session...
(booy was this a bad idea... as I was in paper writing mode. My biceps and abs were feeling for days after...)

WEdnesday - Swim
Thurs, FRI - Sitting for long periods of time, sleeping on pilates mat, and fast walking to and from.

SAt- BIKE ride, it was a nice day today so I decided that I would bike, seeing as I lent out my metropass.

Went to the following places.
1) Eaton Centre
2) Union Station
3) MEC
4) End of Ashbridge's Bay
5) back home

To the Right is my bike ride by MAPs google.

Overall I'm glad that this week is over.... onto, keeping on top of things.

9 Weeks till Ottawa Race Weekend.......

proud times

as loser-ish as I am right now....

I felt proud and disappointed but here's the rundown.

AM work, followed by a quick trip to my most loved brary
ROBARTS, then to class super early.

12:17-1:10 a nice run.
for the first 3k, I was running about 1min/200m or 5min/km......... or 8min mile.
then at lap 18, (3.6k) I started to crap up in my left calf.... and my shins were def. bad news.
walked lap 18, and then proceeeded to start my run again.
I ended at lap 47 (approx. 9.2k) and walked about 3 laps for a total of 10k.

that's right 10k . Feeling not too tired, cuase I slowed down my pace during the second half of the run.

overall, good run.
after work at 3:07pm went for a 1.6k swim before my clients arrived.

all in all impressed that I stuck to the routine. Disappointed in my stop-age but if I didn't stop I would have anywayz becuase I def. was going to be stopped by my cramped up left calf.

[at the end.......... I ate crackers again.........freck...........]
also my ride home on the 501 was the longest e vah!

Thursday, January 25, 2007

Winter?! really?!

I'd just like to say that is was -12 when we were DT today.

Had my long day at school 9-9.
GOOD times had by all.
french roast (extra bold... totally my stylz) so good, and didn't fall asleep in plant phys.l
lab was excellent finished at around 3:40pm....

went DT to pay ROGERS bill and go pseudo-shoe shopping with GURLfriend.... aka vashattack.

ended up doing PERSIAN food.... ooo how I heart food, but good food makes me more happy.

below you will find photos to document the adventure.

then walked in the blistering COLD to HH.... for a 2hr+ lecture/presentation of several HHUC trip to North Sulawesi.... soooo cool.. gotta get on an underwater casing for my camera...

NOTICE the rozy (rosie) cheeks...

point of the blog: just hate like 5000 crackers, even though I wasn't hungry... and didn't go swimming.

[disappointed in myself... but it was REALLY REALLY freezing.... but had a great time with vashattack today.... not that we don't but it was good... seeing as he called me during lecture (of >24 ppl) and the phone wasn't on silent... ekk]

why I love the AC

it was not only my long day at work, but also a good one I think.
sum it up 5am-8pm.... (4 hour break in b/w and was able to put in a good 45-50min run.)

RUN: 8:46-9:35am
did about 35 laps +1 lap (I lost track so I erred on the low side of the count)
listened to my much loved mp3, which has been in the arms of my bro for the longest time.
got my 2nd wind at about lap 20 (also the fact that the PHE were doing sprints also help to motivate me.
5laps/k, therefore did a good 7k run, followed by a 1k walk
TOTAL = 8k (w00t w00t), first time since a long time, not even during my summer runs would I do 8k... (ok maybe we did , but I was the route planner, it was all KATE. and trail running)

ditched DJ session, and SEan was a no go. Walked from Spadina ---> John and waited an extra 10min, probably could have made it to BAy, but I was wearing my box-toed black shoes, and it was snowing.

Chatted w/ nikki for like 1hr 19min (accomplished texting to apologize for not attending TOI.... oh wells, next time right?!)

HOME, and hoping that my training schedule will be good.
totally going for a swim tmr PM after HHUC video slide show... (going to try and do 2.5k+)

Tuesday, January 23, 2007

no music

Monday - went for a swim, did 2.6k. (no real push... should try and think of something more structured then my 1k WU, 5x200m (IM), then 3x150m (PSK), cool down.
(mood: felt good, want faster times though, concentrated more on the pull then kick)

copped out of the run in the PM... too tired, but went grocery shopping instead.....
(facebook took my entire PM..... damn you!)

Today: decided not to swim in the AM.... too tired.. instead attempted to "read".

went to MEC when it opened at 10am, and got nalgene for Andy and gloves for DK.
(did some much needed work.... and cooked lunch.. (instant noodles, which will now be X out of my diet, cuase it makes you soo flippin' thirsty afterwards....)
phone the rents in HK... doing great.
(then opened comp, fell asleep for 40 min.... woke up, hung the laundry..... then splet again, only to be awoken by my cell phone.)

I thought it was the morning and I was late for WORK... but instead it was vash to the rescue.... ( I was actually very dazed... I don't even remember the conversion that we had....)
attempted more school.
then went the GYM.

RUN: 4.5 miles ~ 7k, 496 calories burned, 45 min. Ran at 6.5 speed... and walked for the last 7min as my cooldown at abour 4.0-3.5 speed.
had a good stretch and did some abs.
(mood: pissed cuase at 17 min of my 35min run, my earphones died. sooo pissed, so I watched CNN in silenece... sadness all around. at 25min, didn't know if I could push through the last 10 min/ my quads were staring me down with their lactic acid build-up.
OVERALL: EXCELLENT RUN, I pushed the 4 mile barrier... w00t. hopefully I will mimic this tmr AM)

Sunday, January 21, 2007

pushing through it all

so here goes a rant/run down about my week.

TRAINING schedule is still being worked out... but here's what I did this week
Jan 15-Jan 20

SUNDAY- OFF (worked 7-3pm ekkk and then goes to *bux to meet up with vashattack)

my new dedication

did I even spell that right?!

ok, it's my new plan to get back into decent physcial shape... yeah yeah yeah, I know I'm pretty fit, but I've been fitter when I was 20lbs. lighter. So it's not my goal to lose 20lbs. it's to actually drop time on my sprints.........

my goals are as follows:
-be healthy by eating more vegetables
-cut soda out of my diet (this one is going to be the hardest)
-minimize sugar and sugary stuff..... but splenda is ok!
-RUN a half marathon by JUNE
-RUN a marathon by 2008.
-Graduate this stupid school, and go into more school
-to find out what I really wanna do.

ok, so this blog is going to turn into my training blog, with tid-bits of awesome outings and concert going stuff....
here goes me new challenge...
LET I remind you that this is not a NY resolution.
